This guide shows how to call a shot on a computer (click the ball, then the pocket) and on a phone (hold the ball, then tap the pocket). It also covers the push out, what happens when you miss your call, fouls and ball in hand, and how the 10 wins only when it's the last ball, in the pocket you called.

Step by step

What 10-ball is

Ten-ball is called-shot pool. You name every shot, so luck doesn't count. Like nine-ball, your cue ball must hit the lowest ball first. Then a ball must drop, or reach a rail.

Calling your shot

Every shot after the break is called: one ball, and one pocket. Only that ball, in that pocket, counts. On a computer, click the ball, then click the pocket. On a phone, hold the ball for a moment, then tap the pocket. Forget to call, and the shot waits until you do.

The push out

Right after the break, the next shooter may push out: any shot goes, except a scratch. Then the opponent chooses: take the shot from there, or pass it back. Miss your call but pot a ball, and your opponent gets that same choice.

Fouls and winning on the 10

A foul gives your opponent ball in hand, anywhere on the table. Three fouls in a row lose the rack. Pot the ten too early, and it comes back up on the table. You win by potting the ten last, in the pocket you called. So: hit the lowest ball first, call every shot, and the ten wins only when it's the last ball.
