Step by step

Welcome and the lobby

Welcome to CueVerse, free online pool. Here's how to play on your phone. In the lobby, every card is a table. Tap the Sit button to play, or tap the card itself to watch. Or let Play Now find you a seat. The Players tab shows who's online, and Chat talks to the whole room.

Creating a table

To make your own table, tap the plus button. Pick eight-ball, nine-ball or ten-ball. Solo practice means you play alone. Then choose how many play, rated or casual, how much aim help, and a shot timer. Game modes change the rules; they get their own guide. We'll play standard eight-ball. Tap Create Table.

At the table

Your new table opens with you watching. Tap Take Seat to sit down. When someone joins, you both tap Start. No one around? Tap the gear, top right, and pick a level. Then tap Play Robot, and Start. Both names are at the top. Whoever's shooting glows blue. Spin and Power are on the right, and the chat button sits by the gear.

8-ball rules explained

In eight-ball, you only ever hit the white cue ball. Use it to knock the others into the pockets. That's called potting. Balls one to seven are solids. Nine to fifteen are stripes. And the black eight, which you pot last. One player gets the solids, the other the stripes. That's your group. The first shot is the break. After it, the table is open: nobody has a group yet. After the break, whoever pots a ball first takes that ball's group. Pot one of each on the same shot? You choose. Pot one of yours and you go again. If you don't, it's their turn. Pot all seven of yours, and the eight is your last ball.

Aiming, spin and power

Drag on the table to aim. The line shows where the cue ball will go. Double-tap a ball to aim straight at it. The arrows, bottom left, fine-tune your aim. Spin is optional: tap the Spin ball, drag the dot, then tap Done. With the dot low, the cue ball pulls back after the hit. With it high, it rolls forward. Side spin changes how it bounces off a cushion, the table's edge. It doesn't curve. Drag the Power bar up: higher hits harder. Let go to shoot.

Fouls and ball in hand

There are three fouls. One: potting the cue ball. That's a scratch. Two: the cue ball doesn't touch any ball. Three: it hits one of theirs first, or the eight too early. After a foul, your opponent gets ball in hand: they can put the cue ball anywhere.

Winning on the 8

With only the eight left, you call its pocket with the red arrow. It starts top middle; tap a pocket to move it. Pot the eight there to win. Pot it too soon, in the wrong pocket, or scratch with it, and you lose. Pot the eight on the break? Nobody loses; the balls are racked again.
